Mushing is in the Siberian Husky blood, but we take the view that it is also the dogs choice to run. This approach is somewhat atypical of a competitive or racing sled dog kennel - but our goals are not to be competitive. We want to be able to respectably perform at races, but we are not out to win. Brinbella takes a laid back approach to racing. We view race days as a gathering of mushers and dogs, rather than competition. If mushing turns into a chore, its not fun for the dogs or for us. We do not have a rigid schedule of running goals, but we do try and run as often as weather and time permit.
Brinbella Kennel is an open yard kennel. The dogs must come to us for harnessing or to get on the truck. If a dog does not want to go, they simply choose not to. Since the excitement of running is contagious, it is rare that a dog decides they do not want to run, but sometimes a dog just does not want to run that day. We do not make them.
